Hi. When all text in the piece is just ENERGY, LIVES and such, drawing each letter and copying it by hand is easy. But when there's need to type something longer than a single word, it is just pain and waste of time. So I decided to make several font files. But which program to use for making a pixel font?

I use gbdfed. I think you have to compile it from source, and I don't know what OS you're using, but it says "It does not yet compile and run properly on Windows."

Depends one where this font is going to be used. Some programs have a built-in font editor.

Very. I've made all my 'fonts' there.
Check out their gallery for other fun stuff.

Thank you. One real drawback is that with web-based application you meant to complete the whole set in one sitting and not able to change it in the future. But it looks useful and simple enough, so I'll give it a go, when will have enough time.

In links section there are only links to free fonts except one which, anyhow, deals with such mazochistic way of making pixel font, that almost prohibits any complex lettering.

So, I tried it and prepared my usual 5 pixels-high set. Installed it (here how to do it in Windows). Then started MS Paint. The main problem that I don't know how to overcome - spacing of letters is t o o _ w i d e. It is possible that there is no means to ajust it in MS Paint.

Here is screengrab - log of what I done until MS Paint crashed. Yes, crashed! I doubt that it deals with new font, but I never typed anything complex in MS Paint on my current machine, so I can't be shure.
