It's for a point and click game I'm working on, I'm pretty happy with it but I'm sure it could be better.
http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh236/matthew3447/SpaceBG.gif?t=1261268260 Thanks. When I put it in image form, it comes out like this ![]() But shows up in post editor. Ska edit: should be displaying correctly now Edited by skamocore - 20 December 2009 at 1:26am |

Looks good! Maybe add a bit more stars, though? Or maybe a far-off nebula?

Okay, I'll post what I have in a bit.
Edit: Having a lot of trouble making it, going to look for a nebula in the gallery Edited by IQbrew - 19 December 2009 at 8:41pm |

well i think yours is decent what you need to work on is the colors of your peice and try to mix up the stars a bit, you have a whole heap of big ones try looking at the peice you posted it has stars of various sizes try doing that. this way it will help it seem more like a rel atmosphere.
jalonso made a decent background, deprogrammer showed it on his forum topic "what jalonso has been up to lately" but the peice you just shown seems to be more then helpful. |

I reckon you need a planet in the background, or even one up close in the corner.

The differing palettes of the stars doesn't really work imo. If you look at SquirrelSquid's you'll see that his bigger stars are purple, with more indigo and less saturation the darker you get.
Not to say that SS's isn't awesome but pixelling from a pixelled reference isn't always the best thing. Look at it, sure, to see how pixel techniques can be applied but there are many different types. The wiki article's got heaps of beautiful images, note specially the flame nebula pic and this page's pics to see the near-circular light around a star. |
