Hello, I've been visiting this site for a while.
I'm not a retro nerd but I love 2d design, pixel art and Snes games.
I started making my own pixel art more then a month ago. And two weeks ago me and a friend decided to make a game where I would do the design and he codes.
For a start we will be using Game Maker just to get started and Im using Paint (windows 7) and the Game Makers editor to animate the sprites. But I want to know if there is a better programs for animation? Would be nice with one where you use the previous frame as a ghost behind the next if you know what I mean. I've checked the list of programs here but I want to know what you PRO's use and think is best for me. PS: please no bashing here ![]() ![]() |

GIMP, Fireworks, Photoshop are all good animation programs.

Howdy Vladimir, welcome to PixelJoint. Many professionals use Cosmigo ProMotion. GraphicsGale is popular as well. Be careful with the "free" version of GraphicsGale, though: it can't export gifs, the most widely used format for animated pixel art and the only format PixelJoint accepts.
