Hey everyone. Haven't used these forums in a while but I missed you guys! Please give some advice on the composition, colors, and line work or anything else that needs work. This is a rough draft and I wanted to get layout and colors sorted before I go into too much detail. Thanks again!

even though there is nothing linear or geometric about your piece does not exempt it from the rules of linear perspective. treat every plane you draw as if it where a geometrical shape that you can put into perspective. edit to illustrate ![]() Also, you place the point of interest dead in the center of a square canvas. That does leave the eye with much room to wander. Try a more oddly shaped canvas and make the composition less centric and symetric... do something radical And ;ast but not least; methinks your palette has room for improvement. Your light brown is almost indistinguishable when next to your green. i do like the mood of the pallete though Edited by Dhr. Bosch - 12 May 2010 at 5:42pm |

there are some concerns about the compostition, aside from those bosch already mentioned. The guy with the flower seems to be the intended focus of the picture yet he is so small. Also your canvas is pretty much divided perfectly in half with the horizon line, so you should lower it. The two halves of the picture right now basically use totally differnt palletes. It makes it look like they dont belong in the same picture. The top half is also really high contrast, light purple and white against black. The bottom half is relatively low contrast. The high contrast in the top half draws alot of attention. The high contrast on the guy draws attention to him but it makes it look like he doesnt belong in the picture. Maybe making him larger and more detailed could draw more attention to him.
