And I'm Andrew, by the way, I plan on posting here a lot. Just lurking has gotten me a long way in what I can do. This is my first *real* pixel art attempt, and I decided to keep it simple.
Thanks.

Howdy andy, glad to have you. The thing is it's awfully small, so there's not much to crit :o There's ony so much you can do with a portrait at this size.
One major problem I see is that his hair and skin blend together too much. On my screen, at 1x zoom, it looks like a solid black head with white eyes and teeth unless I sit forward in my chair and squint a bit. In fact, I think the bright white teeth and eyes are part of the problem--the contrast is making the darks seem even darker and run together. Edited by Hatch - 01 July 2010 at 10:24am |

I see you are trying to do perspective, which is good, on a bigger piece. IMO when working this small, stick to a straight picture, the perspective will throw things too far off.
I would suggest centering him, cleaning up the lines, defining a light source, then doing some shading. it is very possible to make a portrait this size, you just need to make use of every pixel avaliable to you... If i have time later i may make an edit, no guarantee tho... |
