Hey, Guys.

I'm kinda trying to get better at tree making. So far I'm a amateur to pixel art etc.
But after doing some  trees today about 4-5 tries I start to see improvements and it could be great to receive more advices etc.

The first one is my latest one.

Right now I'm studying this dude trees http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php?topic=8291.0 to come up with my own style.

I think you are doing more scribbling than pixelling.
Check the gallery for other's way of making trees. Most have minimal colors and precise pixel placement.
Here's one that shows this clearly

and another two

Just showing you that trees like contrast and as little pixel work as possible.

less leaf-balls. spheres look unnatural, make clumps of different sizes, remember that many smaller branches split off from these main limbs.

Maybe try to make a convincing green ball first, because thats going to be the basic shape for the foliage. (one big ball would be the complete foliage and each branch would also be sort of a ball in itself)

I think your palettes need work. They are all wayyyy too saturated, some of the leaves hurt my eyes to look at! Try varying your saturation more and saving very high saturation colors for details.

Also I agree with onek, there's a lot here to look at where I think you would be better served with sticking to one piece at a time until you've got it looking great.

What style are you going here? It's a bit cartoony but even when you're stylizing something you have to carefully consider anesthetics and translate the real world into something recognizable.

The middle example in the first picture (the bush-y) type thing is quite good, though the colors are still a problem and the shading on the trunk is a bit off. i think you should try going back in that direction a bit with the detailing. A good exercise is to try to cram as much detail in as you can with 2 or 3 colors. Check out how few colors there are in Jolonso's example!

Keep up the work, I do think you're improving.

Gonna stay upgrading this one.

But I'm still struggling on making the leaves.

Can someone show an example how they would color any of these etc :s.

Edit:

Instead of focusing on details of leaves you could try for suggestion using shapes and volume instead of detail, like this does

If you do want leaf detail then maybe the leaves can be just bigger that 'real' size like this piece is

There was a thread either there or at Pixelation where everybody made trees and while methods were simple, results were mostly good and believable. Anyone remembers where it is? Search by the word 'tree' brings too many results.
