Finally I'm able to play Cave Story on the Wiz thanks to GP32-emu Ginge.

I'm running in the desert,
running in to the sun,
running out of blood
and I'm going numb.

I second that motion. Aside from the titty I can't see nothing worth looking at.

edit:

Just clicked the link and I gotta add in a triple wft. There's no focal point on any of the pieces, everything is just everywhere. It's like a bad acid trip.

Yeah ok but yours are just plain disturbing. Sorry. Oh and Pollock created from scratch where you are pasting possibly copyrighted material together with photoshop effects. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I agree with all of that, and I am pleased it has brought about some strong feelings for you. Its better for people to be disturbed than indifferent.
Do you therefore consider collage a lesser art?

Yes unless everything in it are pieces of your own hands.

Art has been around for more than 150 years, please explain this arbitrary number.

As the way I see "by your own hands" is to use what skills you've attained. Sure they may be similar in nature to that of other artists, but you still made them 'by your own hands'. You could recreate a counterfeit forge of the Mona Lisa, brush stroke per brush stroke, but it still requires you to have the talents to do that in the first place.

Collages are simply cut n' paste jobs, little to no effort was put into it.

"What is written without effort is read without pleasure." ~ Samuel Johnson

That was a literary quote but it applies to visual arts, as well as pretty much anything else in life, equally well.

Look I know it feels like we're attacking you but if you just tried to create your prints from scratch on a blank canvas. Even if it turns out like crap it will sell better than frogs with tits.

Sure you wanna do your own thing with the prints but maybe don't go into such extremes.

Also your site is called Lo Artform (as in 'Low'?) so you're contradicting yourself. :p

i said the LAST 150 years, not the 150 years of art history. As your understanding grasp of art harks back to this time.

The attitudes on this forum are breath taking.

"Dont go to extremes" and "everything must be from scratch" are hilarious statements.

And for the record, my work is extremely heavily laboured. I force images into the form i want them to take, that tension underpins the work.
Besides, effort and labour do not determine a good art work. Let me hear your thoughts on the work of Marcel Duchamp?

Creepy.

The "everything must be from scratch" rule is a form of discipline to sharpen skills. You want to take shortcuts and mash already existing things together and call it art? Fine, you go do that.

And no one said your work isn't heavily laboured, only that it takes little to no effort. You can pick up a brick, carry it 10 meters, then lay it down in a row with the other bricks and build yourself a wall. It's a heavily laboured job but it requires little to no effort, a monkey could be trained to build a wall.

Look, you've stumbled across a site that values hard work, patience, dedication, and above all else does not tolerate shortcuts of any kind. Your work is entirely centered around shortcuts, so you can see where we have a problem don't you?

i have a masters in fine art and in all my years of art school I never met any people with such naive and closed minded beliefs.
Have any of you studied art to any serious level? If so where do they teach these theories?

Ive never been one for forums but I am enjoying this so much. Can I see some of your work so I can understand your angle?

No, you can't see any of my work because it can't be seen. All of my real art is in the physical world, paintings, sculptures, jewelry, etc (I'm the kind of artist that likes to physically work with my hands.) My entire gallery here is simply crappy and uninspired, digital just doesn't feel the same to me.

And if you think we are closed-minded then need to realize that you are not a general art site where anything and everything is allowed, we are a specialty site dedicated to one art form and only one art form: Pixel art, our credo is "Each pixel much be individually placed by hand."

edit:

Not me. I don't have a website.

Not with that attitude, no. You've become awfully hostile and insulted an artist who has nothing to do with this simply because he shares a similar name as me.

c'mon dude, thats like a horribly lame and impotent version of what i am doing. is your work made for the under 10's age range?

That was entirely uncalled for, even if you had no idea that wasn't actually me. I think we're done here.

I know this dude has peaced, but...

pollock didn't have a focal point for completely different reasons, his art had a different motive. one can't claim figurative collage work gets off with having no focus just because action painting didn't.

for such deep and structured work you'd think the artist would have an artist's statement. i didn't know they were giving MFAs away these days...

I sensed no tension underpinning the work, it was just poorly photoshopped images with scribbles on top. I agree that the artist can appropriate images if it relates to the motive driving his piece or is done in a clever an artistic way, but this stuff (imho) is neither.

but this dude is obviously trollin' so this is a waste of a comment.

Also, that green guy should be 'inspired' a bit less direct:

Crap Carp, Spammers were exploiting the forum a lot more due to the forum allowing people to join from the forum. Some were making multiple accounts to fave their own work too, so...Sedge removed that option in the update and it meant members lost the ability of making changes in their profile as a compromise. Mods can still get in there so if you really need a change PM me or any Mod and ask for an edit. This sux for you guys but its brought the spam down a lot. Sorry buddy :)

Because as I understand it. The forum software is not the most awesome and bots were signing up as new members more often than in the past so removing the forum join thingy solved that. But also members joining thru the forum to jack up the ratings on their art, and joining thru th forum even legit ones then makes the whole gallery/forum jumping around all crazy with passwords and stuff...I don't really know/understand/care but that's the gist of it.
One extra plus is no more huge-assed picture siggys
One minus my dancing guy siggy remains

I'm in a total artistic creativity design mental lockdown. I couldn't even draw a line how I wanted. Maybe it's the mouse. Maybe it's this house.

Maybe things will pick up when I move out. But then I won't have access to interweb.

I think at least four chicks were checking me out when I went to the grocery store. What the hell?

They were rather attractive too. The clerk was a kind of a geeky-girl which I like.
