I submited art in Pixel Joint, but the staff sent me a message:
REASON: We're sorry to inform you that your submission does not meet our quality standards or the art needs revision for some miscellaneous reason. This is not to say you cannot resubmit the piece in the future after revising it. We encourage you to participate in our forums which include a Work in Progress (WIP) category. This is a great opportunity to gain knowledge and feedback for your pixel pieces before submitting them for approval on the main site. If you feel this is a mistake please post a FRIENDLY message in the Resources/Support section of the forum and we'd be happy to discuss it with you. Responses to this issue within the gallery site will be ignored. The image is this, Mario Please help me. Why my art was not approval? Sorry for my English, I'm italian. we've had members try to submit similar stuff in the past and decided against allowing it. it's basically seen as a 3d rip, since there's little skill in stacking blocks and the image of mario (and those exact blocks/pixels that make him up) already exists.

While I do agree that it takes little to no skill to make those things, I have to disagree about the decision to not let them into the gallery. A rip is either a pixel per pixel rip, or it isn't. That "3D" part takes away the 'ripped' aspect of it. I mean technically speaking. It's like painting of a painting, you know.

Basically what cure said, maybe try put your own spin on the sprite (The link's broken but I assume it was just floating in space?) like this piece here. The fact that it's a 3-point perspective means that the artist has really made it his own.
Perhaps you could make yours in the colours of a statue, and put it on a pedestal? You could do effects like moss and cracks and stuff! I'd advise opening a WIP thread, lots of people would be happy to help :) |

well we don't actually call it a 'rip', but it's disqualified on essentially the same principle. besides, one could easily make a program to convert all sorts of pre-existing sprites into 3d cube sprites.
