I have been dabbling in pixel art for a while but have never been very good making isometric people. This is by far my best isometric person. Any suggestions on how I can make people better?

I used the tutorial at http://www.gotoandplay.it/_articles/2004/10/tcgtipa_p06.php as a basis.

i would personally try for a nonisometric character as that would probably be easier, less to worry about.
it's fine to use an oval as the basic shape of the head to get started, but human heads aren't oval and you need to keep in mind the structure of the skull and jaw. the mouth is diagonal, and the ear is too small, too high, and not far enough back on the head. the arms aren't long enough, he lacks a neck, and the body is a box. he has no crotch/pelvis, his legs just disappear into his shirt.
you need to study anatomy (heavily, preferable with a sketchpad and on a regular basis) and use references if you're going to pixel a convincing human.

All my pixel art is isometric, so I do not think that is a possibility, to do my characters as non-isometric. Wouldn't non-isometric characters in an isometric background look kinda wierd? Or, with them being pretty small, do you think the viewer wouldn't even notice?

you need to learn how to draw a human being, why give yourself the extra challenge of making it isometric if your anatomy skills are so underdeveloped? learning in pixel art rather than pencil and paper is already enough of a challenge.

agree with cure and zeratanus
all i wanted to add is you can have non isometric characters in an isometric
background.
only example i can think of off the top of my head is zelda iii LTP the backgrounds are all heavily top down view while the characters are slightly top down view but almost completely front view.
and that game imho is one of the best looking classic game.

i found life drawing sessions were very helpful with learning anatomy.
