Two things bother me. The fact that there is membranous fiber (ie. wing) going from the shoulder to the hand. Is that normal?

And the fact that the wing seems much bigger when down that when up. When he flaps the wing seems to get a lot wider.

your right, i think it became more noticeable adding another 'wing pointing downward' frame as well as taking the "finger lines" out of the top wing. i did scale it back a bit when adding the extra frame but i see its not enough.
also in the bat wing research i did the wing attached from the hand to the shoulder, how ever most dragon's ive researched dont usually have it. well in this update i cut it back a bit so its a little less extreme, i dont think i can do away with it completely i tired and it looked kinda funny

small update before bed
shrunk the down ward pointing wings alot, i forgot that these wings are supposed to be in perspective and are at a much greater angle so instead of making them the same size i needed to make them smaller also the tail stretched a little in a frame. gotta start pixeling this soon

It resembles an Asian dragon, but with wings. Realism isn't *that* important when it comes to a massive reptile whose wings couldn't support its weight anyway.

I just realized, right before his tail flicks upward... the tip looks really stiff/stright? Is it just me.

thanks for the suggestion bannana i had never even considered bosses... hmm

yea i see what your saying HF i think i know how to fix it, probably a result of adding an extra frame on the up flap, ill post an edit in a few hours

a new chapter begins.. and i reverted to an older color scheme
having a bit of troubles getting the right scaly feel, this is probably not a great starter project to tackle for such a young pixeler...



i realize the forum has a built in zoom, but i find these are easier to look at and compare..
im going to attempt a vein like texture on the wings, tail is still basic shaded, and i tired to get some rib definitions in the chest..
also not a big fan of the eyes.. maybe the head feels to flat.. sigh..
would like some peoples opinions and maybe some suggestions, thanks in advance

well i started the scale texture from scratch again, yielded a similar result... i think it looks a bit better but maybe its too much noise in the texture.. first attempt at a veiny wing, its apparent im going to need reference for this

any suggestions would be hugely appreciated at this point.

i realized i have no shading in the wings, they look flat and more like dry dirt than a veins. so heres without.

i made another realization i completely forgot the 3rd finger going to the top tip of the wing

I think the version before the veiny wings had better coloring on the body. The current one looks a bit too noisy, and a bit like a hedge clipping

i agree with you zera, how ever i feel the other one is too noisey as well.
im starting to think its just too small of a sprite to do such a texture, i might take 1 more stab at it before a simple shading takes over.
i almost want to just dither it a bit and add some highlights to the dither, keep most the noise out.. sigh oh well, this project sure is teaching me a ton about pixel art and pixel animation too.

been pretty busy, guess i probably wont be finishing this by the end of this week lol, oh well little update, really playing with the pixels i think this is a much better version, please give me some feed back :)
