Hello, I'm working on an isometric walking sprite. Specifically, I would like her legs critiqued, but I'll take any other pointers as well:

Yes, I plan on having her arms, clothes, and hair move, I just wanted to see if the legs were okay, before I committed. :)

One tip I can give you, is from now on, never do each part separate, especially on a big piece like this. It will take ages and probably not be as good as if you had worked on it all at once.

Are you suggesting to make a skeleton first, then add the body? Sorry, I'm not very experienced with animating.

This isn't isometric :\ The body looks like its seen almost straight on. Isometric isnt really my specialty though so I don't really know what else to say on the matter but I am fairly certain this is not at the Isometric angle.
also, yes, NEVER animate separately. and dont be afraid to constantly redraw the thing for each frame. It actually goes a lot faster than doing it piece by piece and then trying to get it all to work together in the end... edit: specifically: skeleton/stickframe -> blocked in body -> details Edited by Zeratanus - 08 December 2010 at 12:15pm |

How do you mean it isn't isometric? Do you mean it's not angled enough?
Looks like I'm going to have to start from scratch. Is my color scheme/shading okay? ![]() |

Right, isometric is a pretty exact angle. yours is much closer to the ground. for example (from Adarias) ![]() also, for your colors, when you shade try to use something more than just a darker/lighter version of the base color. Infuse it with a bit of orange/purple/red/blue/green some other color (depends on the base color, and whether you want a warm or cool color scheme). Doubly so on your new outfit, since grey-yellow looks gross (not the color scheme of grey and yellow, but the grey-yellow shades, just to be clear ;P) For example, for the hair's darker shade I'd make it closer to purple, and the yellow i'd probably use orange and see how that looks. For the skin I'd probably use a more reddish shade. |
