This has an incredible amount of banding (the laser, the flame, the ring, stars). Have a look here under the section on banding. What are the wavy lines at the bottom?
The left planet and the ship's textures are very noisy. The flame should be burning brightest closest to the engine, so your flame is essentially backwards. You've also placed the stars very evenly, which is a very easy mistake to make when creating star-scapes. If you look into the night sky you'll see that stars are clustered into irregular formations. Anyway check out some references! This piece is a good example of a space background. |

I'm not sure if I like the texture or not. In a way it gives things a similar feel as claymation, which I think is very cool if you pull it off well, but at the same time it makes everything look like it's made of the same material (which may be part of why it reminds me of claymation so much).
You might be interested in looking at some of these examples of spaceships- Havoc Zone - Leviathan Dropship (look at individual frames for a good idea of thruster effects) Pioneer Ships Pt. II (good example of detailing to give a mechanical look and feel) Dodonpachi spaceship Mockup Frenzy #1: Minefields Spaceship (very cool sleek look to it, notice the smoothness of the highlights and shadows) |

You put noise in every single piece you've posted on threads.
Seriously dude, you have to stop it LOL. If you think about it,
your 'noise' indicates that there textures bumps and things
large as towns.
I can't really tell where the light is coming from either, except for the
space ship, where it's coming from the top. Edited by ChrisButton - 17 February 2011 at 1:41am |
