These are two sprites that I was working on recently that I would like some feedback on. I want these to be able to work on any color bg. Other things I would like to improve on are the size (would like to add more detail or is it fine?) and colors, especially the colors. One is overly blue (which I don't really mind) but I really had issues with the sprite on the right because of the blue on his shirt. The non-pixel artwork is to show what one of the character's colors are supposed to be like.

It looks better without the black outline, but the red character looks a little washed out in the new colors. The blue character is also a little washed out but it doesn't seem like a problem to me because it's not exactly a natural color for a person anyway, so being slightly washed out doesn't reduce how natural he looks to me.

I would go with the middle one because a lot of landscape paintings, or at least the ones I've looked at, seem to prefer having the light coming from the right. I think psychologically I expect the right side of things to be warmer than the left. Even if you switched their positions in the third one the warmer character would be moving away from the cooler one.

Tanuki: Ok I decided to try the black outline b/c some games use it and I thought it might make the sprite easier to look at on different backgrounds. I'm not sure what you mean by the landscape point but these guys are going to be used separately.
