A bit about the ship...
This is the product of a completely random brainstorm that actually became something. I started off drawing a cylinder (what you see as the main body) and somehow it became this interstellar, missile shooting, laser firing ship. I'll create a purpose and back story for it once I finish it completely.


What I would Like some help with
I plan on adding TONS of stuff to this, but I already know how to do most of it. If anyone has the time, I would really appreciate some help with what I've already done.

Thruster Animation
That purple thing at the bottom is supposed to be the thruster animation, but I'm not entirely sure how to go about it. I want it to be smooth and not just some random jumble of frames that replace each other. I guess the closest thing to what I have in mind would be the boosters on Star Wars' Star Destroyers. I'm trying to be color savvy, but if I need to add 2 or 3 extra colors to make it look nice then feel free to suggest it.

Better thruster color suggestions
Does the current color look fine? If not then I'm open to any hue suggestions. I tried red, but it was just way too much and killed the balance of the whole thing.

Overall thoughts and critique
If you see a problem in my technique then please let me know. I won't be changing the general structure of the plane, but if something looks weird or out of place then I'd love to hear about it.

This is my first super complex piece and I want to do it to the best of my ability. Any and all input would be greatly appreciated. I am not afraid of critique in the least so please let me know anything you feel I can improve on!
