I've no idea what to do with the background. Maybe I'll just leave it as is :/

Considering the items and assets are so intricate it would look best to soften things if a 2 color BG is used. Perhaps a shade just lighter (-10%) than the BG color.

I can see a warrior lifting weights but the side assets make this look like a SHMUP too. Is it a ship or a warrior bot?

Yeah, that was pretty much my inspiration for this piece.
It was then (like many things I've done as of late) treated as a 'tileset', and expanded upon.

Jal, thank you for the bg suggestion! Hopefully I'll get to working on the background soon.

In the meantime, updaet!

I have no great experience in colors, but I think an appropriate background is needed. May it be only for the sake of the light effects of the crystals, I think you should find the proper colors to emphasise them, or at least not to reduce the impression of luminescence. For, in my opinion, they are the main source of contrasts in the art as it is now.
