Artist Hired! I'm no longer looking for a pixel artist. Hello! Financial Part First of all,I only have finances to hire one person for 160$ / month. This is a large project! So I don't expect you to tag along "all the way" to the finished state of the game. But I'm happy if you can create 10 enemies or complete 2-3 tile sets. Before I go into all the details about the game I'll give you the financial details PayPal All payments will be done with PayPal. I don't transfer money in any other way. In one Month for 160$, I expect one of the following 3 options to be completed: 1* One completed enemy with all its animations (more time consuming). (Move, Idle, Attack,Death) Enemy quality equal to: Metroid Zero Mission. All graphics is in .png format. Enemy layout example: "Shellbiter" enemy graphics already in-game: ![]() All enemy frames must be the same size and set up like in this image. The transparent color is magenta, color code: FF00FF. ( Use of grid is optional, I can load gfx with or without it) Enemies can of course have different sizes, only the frames must be the same size. (Makes it easy for the function I've written to load in the enemy graphics) ![]() ![]() I will give more details about different style of enemies depending on area in the game. You will have free hands to form and create them. If you create more graphics than minimum required / month, I might throw in some bonus $. A job well done is most surly deserving of more payment! 2 * Att least 30 Tiles I want professional looking tiles equal to Metroid zero mission quality. Tile size is 32x32 To ask for a complete tile set in one month for just 160$ is a little to much, so instead I set 30 Tiles as minimum. I will give more details about different areas in the game so you know what to pixel. If you create more graphics than minimum required / month, I might throw in some bonus $. A job well done is most surly deserving of more payment! 3 * One enemy with few frames of animation and 10-15 tiles Some enemies don't require to much work. For example a "floating" enemy that just moves between two walls only need a couple of frames to show it's moving forward. In this 3rd option you will also have to create 10-15 well made tiles. If you create more graphics than minimum required / month, I might throw in some bonus $. A job well done is most surly deserving of more payment! Ok, Now on to the game information. Tech Demo & What is the Forgotten Planet? The Forgotten Planet is a 2D platform game with the same feel as Metroid, but with its own weapons, story and unique features. I have a Game demo up and running. Just recently rewrote the network code so multi player is working 100% right now. I am still fixing a few minor things before releasing tech demo v2 on the blog. You can download the first tech demo v1 (multiplayer networkcode is somewhat broken), and test the single player part of the game: Don't forget to check the "customize keys" under options so you know the controls. Tiles will of course be replaced by original work later! Graphics & Art style Resolution: Native 640x480. (will probably change this to a widescreen format laters, due to 4:3 format dying out) In windowed mode you can change the window to any size and play. (More CPU hungry) The graphics style is cartoon. Think metroid zero mission and you get the picture: ![]() Story An alien scout ship is out exploring a new part of the galaxy, looking for a new planet to colonize. The ship finds a planet with excellent conditions for their species. However, when they come in orbit and is about to contact their home world about the good news of the planet, the old automated planetary defense system, which has been dormant for ages wakes up, and shoots the scout ship down. The scout ship crash lands on the surface. Down on the surface they discover that they cannot use their long range space communication. They scan and find that the automated defense system is blocking all long range communication. The check the damage on the ship and find out that the section of the ship holding the research AI and build robot is undamaged. They have the means to restore the ship. The mission now is: - Find materials and rebuild the ship - Shut down the automated planetary defense system so they can contact their home world. Features Single Player (Playable) 2Player co-op (Playable) Research & Build system (W.I.P) Probe system ( Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WiRRU2lbZCU) Mining (0%) Two Large game worlds, one for single player and one for multiplayer (W.I.P) Research & Build System The game will have an interesting research and build system. Enemies will drop materials and parts which you have bring to the crash-landed ship where you can do research on them and find new ways to improve armor, weapons or new probe abilities. You can also store materials needed to repair the ship. It takes a large amount of materials to repair a ship part. After research you can start building what you have researched. There will be many available combinations with what you have researched. Mining Player(s) will be able to mine minerals as well. There will be "veins " sticking out from walls where mining can be done. A mining tool has to be researched first in order to take advantage of the veins. Veins gives more materials then what enemies drop. Single & Multi player experience The game can be played as single player or multiplayer. The game will have two different worlds, one for single player and one for multiplayer. This way players won't just rush through the game because they have played the single player part. So basically it will be two games in one. The Multiplayer part of the game will take more use of the probes different abilities where you have to solve puzzles sometimes in order to advance in game and also reach secret locations.
