Not sure if this is the right place for this thread, but I'm curious about the rules for editing submissions to the weekly challenge, before the challenge is over. Should they be completely untouched untill the challenge is over? Is it acceptable to fix the preview image? Can one make changes to the submission itself, reducing color counts or even tweaking the colors?

You're allowed to tweak and fiddle before the deadline. Once the voting begins however, big no no.

And once the challenge has been over for a week or more feel free to go back and completely change/redo it to your heart's content. Many of us have. |

Update all you want until the challenge deadline. You may not edit the piece once challenge voting is underway. You may update all you want after challenge voting has closed, and the challenge results have been posted.

As mentioned editing/updating while the voting period is going on is uncool.

I don't know how true this is but I find that people seldom revisit entries so I always find it best to leave entries as submitted and ideally only submit when ready. However, sometimes some edits are called for when comments bring something up that's valid. For these I suggest changing the title to include (UPDATED). i.e.: My Awesome Entry (UPDATED) I personally see most entries before voting but I do try to vote without actively seeing the person's name (sometimes unavoidable when the style is obvious.) If I see the (UPDATED) in the title then I'll revisit the piece otherwise I rarely do. Challenge winners come in early, mid-week or very late. I don't think many challenge winners come from updated pieces...Its just best to submit when really ready and only edit minor details. I hate entries that are heavily edited after the challenge |
