I just learned today that on Wednesday, November 16, the United States government was voting on a bill that will serve to shutdown access to certain websites that are believed to infringe on certain copyrights. I can't seem to find any credible information or news on what the outcome of the bill was; whether it passed or not. I was wondering if anyone has heard about this, or knows any more about it than I do. I'd like to be enlightened, as many critics are saying it will result in internet censorship in the US. Since I am a US citizen, this is indeed disturbing if it could lead to my government crippling my ability to browse the world wide web. If anyone has any additional information, please feel free to post. Thanks for reading.

I saw a lot about this as well - my inboxes have been so filled up by DemandProgress that I have no excuse not to know about the SOPA movement!
I've been poking around but haven't found much out either. Maybe it takes a couple of days for the discussions to be resolved? |

i dont think they'll seriously get through with that, and EFF should be supported in their big attempts to stop that.

This is another good step but the method they are going to apply it with seems pretty intruding to pull through. I would not mind getting checked for piracy but there are some parts of the clause that makes for monitoring of internet activity, which more of than not, is really not about piracy but rather privacy, right?
I just hope they find some quick fixes for those cases. |
