Here's an update:

I'm thinking to animate  the glare and drops.

@Nevercreature, that's a really funny animation! I love his face when he punches fast!

8 separate frames x2 to slow it down so 16 total in animation.

@Jawnsunn - Very stylish character, my only crit is that he has a very terrible fighting stance. As is it would be hard to block a punch to the face.

Oh my it looks so fluid!
It's easy for me to forget about keeping it simple at first for animating then adding details...I get carried away with the details early on and then it turns into frustration once I start animating.

@ fay: You're right. I get caught up in the same thing. Thankfully, I didn't put too much detail in before starting this. Nice work, ultimaodin.

Nice stuff, but the challenge is to create just a fighter sprite based on yourself - Nothing more.

Ok guys I just found out my dental work will cost me a whopping $12,000 in total so my creativity just got smashed down with that. So here is the first frame in case I don't finish the entire animation. I'll probably remove the sellout though as it looks bad on dark backgrounds.

@fay - I should mention that it has taken many failures fr me to learn to block out the basic for animation. Many failures.

It might be too late, but see if you can't add some recoil action to the rest of the body when he shoots. He seems to rigid and unnatural. I like the concept, though.

less dithering. the outline is thick where it bends. more contrast overall, especially in skintones.

Update :

Added a bit of recoil, but not too much since it's still a fake gun :)

No body recoil made it look funnier. Still love the idea :)

Nah, it's just that the physics are off.
The recoil should be centered more around the shoulder joint, and then translate to the torso and legs. However, by the time the ripple of the recoil reaches the legs, it should be greatly dissipated. Nice try, though. I still like the added recoil.

Thanks for the replies, I agree there is something off here

But as I said it's not a real gun, so logically there should be no real recoil. I mimicked the movement a dozen times and I moved quite like what I have pixelled here. But the movement of the hair suggests that there is a real recoil.. I think I will have to chose between an overall real recoil (by fixing the recoil on the body) and a fake one (by removing the movement of the hair)

The first option would be more impressive I guess

Here is my entry so far a homemaker with a giant rolling pin for a weapon, trying to keep it simple before detailing. I want to try and animate an idle if I have time before the deadline.  Open to critiquing.

My idea was to make something like a The King of Fighters character, but they are a bit taller than the restrictions. So I make the body smaller, maintaining the head size. I think it looks somewhat ok =)

But I need some tips:
- About the body proportions (except for the head). Do they look correct?
- I am struggling with the shirt, I can't make it look right =(
Also, I dont know how to make cloth fold correctly
 Any ideas?

EDIT: I think the shirt is looking OK now...

EDIT2: fixed the legs... I think.

I'm back, homies!  I just saw this challenge really late last night but it intrigued me (despite how much I fail at drawing the human form).  Here's is my first wip, and as you can see it needs a lot of work.

This is my first try at one of the weekly challenges. I started creating a sprite, and I think that it has come along well, but there are many things to fix about this. If you have any recommendations, please tell me.

Well, hell...was planning on submitting a piece to the challenge, but I started it too late because I was already working on another big animation I was planning to submit....Very wippish, and VERY handsome, if I may add:

Not sure if I'll finish it now. Think I'll just let this fella go peacefully in obscurity.

*Yes, all his body parts are meant to do exactly what they are doing. Why? Because he is filled to the brim with too much awesome-sauce...
