Hey guys!
I've been goofing around with pixels lately and I thought maybe you'd have some good tips for me? What could be improved?

The goblin and swordsman are 20px icons

The head is a test to see the minimal amount of pixels for drawing all the basic elements of a face.

The 16px dwarven military at the bottom is having some readability problems, I think. The dude with the hammer is a mockup (non-PA) to see if some additional shading would help. Not sure if it's a good idea to do it this way. Some user mentioned they look like they're wearing grey overalls, hockey helmets and orange visors :U I'm kinda inclined to agree but I'm stumped on how to improve them!

Thoughts?

i think the dwarves look like they've got bandanas tied around their faces but i like your style. swordsman could use a touch more hair/chain mail on top, perhaps?

I ran out of pixels for that swordsman- that's why the top looks cut off. I suppose I'd need to make his head smaller?

How's this for the dwarves:

New objective: 32px animated tree viewed from above

EDIT: Is this better or worse?

EDIt2: take3

EDIT3: aaaand I think I've got it.

I am not sure what to do with the perspective. The frontend is supposed to use square tiles, which suggests straight top-down view. I'm thinking of keeping things symbolic (there will be no sense of scale to the sprites anyway) and having the sprites viewed mostly from the front- that way I could convey more detail on the creatures (those bother me the most).

Edit4: tried to correct the perspective a bit anyway.

Here's a mockup. If it looks right I'll clean it up and that's it!

love the grass, that's an easy one to get wrong but you did it right.

Needs some variance though as the grid (although inevitable, really) is showing up. make some mud and mud/grass tiles =D

=) boulder looks good

don't forget that as seasons change, both the grass and the colour of the leaves on trees change together.

so if you colour shift the grass, your tree should get the same treatment.

Keep going ^__^
