Hm. I might leave the darker mid-shade and dither the lighter one, since I'd really like to have some water and a lily pad down there.
This is my first sprite where I really have to think about my pallete. Going to make the basket brown, so that I can use it for rushes and darker tones on the tongue. @Long: The colours seem unsaturated, but shading will probably improve that. The bottom left hoof seems a tad square.

this is awesome. I know the trees in this WIP look a little sketchy for pixel art but they have an "impressionist" look that I totally like.

| Using Dawnbringers pallete. Pretty sure the anatomy is all screwed. Crits on that are very welcome! Edited by Reo - 13 April 2012 at 4:24pm | |

@Reo  -  Maybe move the get joint down a bit and move them forward a tad?  I think it's a leg position thing.  The rest looks great.

| Still not sure about the basket color. Lose the grass maybe? Leave the transparent BG, or should I add a color (I think I have room for one more)? I'll prob'ly lose the tree in the background - just toying with the idea. What else ain't working for y'all? | |

| Nearing completion, yay! 15 colours including black. (Excluding a couple stray white pixels on the side of one of the rushes) Transparency counts as a colour, correct? @failureboy: You might want to try lowering the snake's branch so that it's closer to the lower one. Although the current negative space between the snake/basket and the lower branch is quite nice. I'd lose the tree too. I does fill out the piece more, but I'd do it with the existing elements. Coniferous trees and snakes does seem a little odd too. | |

Oh. I didn't try to do pillow shading. Gah. IMO it doesn't really look like it.

@Reo: In my opinion, the mountains doesn't look as they are far away, because they have the same level of detail like the ostrich. And the birdy is placed to high I think, he could almost trample down the mountains  Great job with the palette though.

The effect is still there, but less pronounced in the finished version.

Meh. This is totally unfair. My entry won't even get approved by the time the challenge ends.
Really? At least give me a chance.
