On of the images I tried to submit to my PixelJoint gallery was rejected for the following reason.

"Reason: Your piece was not able to gather the score needed for inclusion in the gallery."

What does this mean? What do I need to revise to get the piece accepted.

This is the image that was denied.

That is the image, I would like to use it as my icon... Does it mean that they think it looks bad? Thank you to anyone for your help.

Even if something is rejected you can still use it as an avatar.

But the "score needed" one simply means resubmit it, you don't particularly need to make any changes to it.

It does not  mean resubmit it as-is >:I

I suspect people voted "no" because it isn't very ambitious.

Cool, thanks a lot guys. I thought that's what it meant.

And it's not supposed to be ambitious. That's actually the point, it's very minimalist but I suspect that not everyone would be into that.

I think many people recognized it as a modified version of the PJ nerd (which isn't made by you) so they automatically voted no since the gallery is meant only for 100% personal works.
In my opinion, keep it as your avatar as long as you like it, don't insist in trying to make it accepted in the gallery at all costs. The piece can stay in "revision needed" state forever, nobody will ask you to delete it.

You know, I read all the rules but it didn't even cross my mind that it could be seen that way. I mean it basically I did just modify that other work. I remember a clause about allowing use of other people work for inspiration and to give credit where it is due. And that was my intention, not to copy or steal, but re-imagine or recreate it in a different way.

But that's what I was planning, to just leave it as pending approval and use it as my icon.
