My name is Todd Grubbs. I'm a hobbyist Developer of iOS apps. I have 2 apps in the App Store. One of which I just finished working with a designer hired from a posting on this site to rework all of the in-game graphics. It’s called Word Charades and the new version is pending review by the App Store. My other App, Flag Wars is being re-written from the ground up to leverage Apple’s Turn-Based APIs. Due to the success I had hiring a designer for Word Charades, I am now looking to hire a designer to do all the visuals for Flag Wars. The app is called Flag Wars. It’s based off the old board game “Stratego”. If you’ve played that game you know the functionality of this app. If you haven’t, it’s a really fun game for strategy buffs, but it was somewhat difficult to implement on the iPhone’s small screen, and difficult to take such a complex game and make it work for a turn-based scenario. I have some interesting deviations that remedy those issues though. It’s a universal app so all images will need to be provided 4 times. 1x and 2x for the iPhone, then 1x and 2x for the iPad. I can provide the rudimentary images that I’m currently using to build out the game. These images, will give you the size/location of the critical game assets. With the exception of the location of the game “Grid” and the dimension of a game tile, everything else can be changed. Here is a link to a read-only google doc that describes each image that is required for the app. I will be adding the name of each image that I expect the artist to use when naming the assets they deliver to me. A few of the images have a specific size requirement due to movement/collision logic. I'll update the document to reflect those as well. Here is another link that to a zip file for some screenshots of the app in its current form with my placeholder images so you can see an example. I’m still building out the game, but I am about 80% complete with the coding. I would like to make it available in mid to late September. I would expect the following timeline for this project: Phase 1: Overall Design Theme – 2 weeks. Phase 2: Delivery of approximately ½ of the actual assets – 2 weeks Phase 3: Delivery of the 2nd half of the actual assets – 2 weeks Phase 4: Icon Design and cleanup of previous minor issues – 2 weeks There really aren’t a lot of assets involved in the project so I suspect there will be quite a bit of slack in this timeline. I do this as a hobby so I don’t expect much more than an hour of work on an average night. If you end up working faster than that I would still like to spread out the phases to give me time to incorporate your new artwork into the game and test. This is the 2nd time I have contracted a free-lance artist and based on previous experience I have the following requirements: 1. You must have at least 1 iOS device capable of running iOS 5.0. Having both an iPad and an iPhone is a plus. 2. We will use a shared google doc to track the delivery of assets. 3. For this project you must sign up for a test flight account so that you can build and run the latest builds of the app and see your graphics and how they appear in-game. 4. You will be paid using Paypal. 5. You will be paid at the completion of each of the 4 phases, in amount equal to ¼ of the total amount of your agreed upon bid. a. Note: if you prefer a different payment schedule, like an hourly rate, or being paid weekly. I’m open to this. 6. At the end of the project you will need to deliver the source files for the assets you deliver so that I can make future modifications if necessary. 7. You are free to use the art work you deliver in any of your own portfolios and/or websites etc. If you are interested please email me at toddgrubbs@me.com and include: 1. A link to your portfolio. Showing me work for iOS specific projects is a plus. 2. Your bid for the project, including the amount, payment schedule, and proposed timeline if your timeline requirements are different than mine. 3. What iOS devices you currently own. 4. I’ll be accepting bids for about a week, at which point I will close down bids so that I can review them, schedule a follow-up if necessary, and make a selection.
