Hi everyone. I hope I'm posting in right forum.
I'm currently making a freeware open source program for pixel art specifically and I want some ideas to make it best, so apart from standard tools what would be great to add? Note: I already made symmetry painting tool. :) |

Hmm...I'm not sure what you mean by standard tools, but a tool that would generate light and dark shades of a color that the user uses with the touch of a button would be nice fore shading and stuff and also If you haven't already thought about that, a gif maker within the program where multiple frames are used to create each animation and sharing and dropbox support if you'd like. I hope you'll be successful in making your tool! :D

Well by standard I mean: Pencil Tool, Line Tool, Circle/Square Tool, Polygon Tool, Curve Tool, Fill Tool, Spray Tool, Different brushes, Zooming, Layers, Animation, GIF export, Selection Tool.
I'm thinking about adding support for graphic tablets too but so far I've been succesfull with Wacom Tablets only. As for your Idea i think I could manage some kind of a "Color Ramp Pallete" which you can change by hotkeys. :) |

Here goes. Almost no paint program does circles and curves well except adobe sketchbook; which does it very well. For a pixel program, nobody has a line tool that stays on 2 and and one, so I would like to see 2 and 1, on the line tool for all 4 directions, with a keyboard hold. A fill tool that fills with a pattern made from my selection, as well as the old dpaint, clip a selection and use as a brush. If your super into this make me a pixel program that is 3d like micrografx simply3d; one of the best pieces of software ever made.

How about this: a window where you can see the color pallete and manage it in any way possible, like limiting it to a certain number of colors.
It would be useful because you wouldn't have to use other programs like Irfanview just to view the color pallete, or spend time manually making the color pallete. If this confuses you, just let me know and I'll explain. |

A tool for different percentages of dithering would be really helpful
