I have some questions for pixel artists who have a bit more experience, and consider themselves capable of commercial quality work. (In other words, few things should appear daunting to you)
Let's say you're working as a sprite artist on an indie 2d platformer, and there are 20 enemies in the game. Each has a moving sprite, an attacking sprite or two, an idle animation, a death animation, some misc animation, and any other effects required. 1. How many hours would it take you to do a set of sprites for one enemy? Or all of them? (the animation could be as economic or as complicated as you want it to be, within reason) 2.Would you be capable of working at least 5 hours a day, or would you get burnt out or lose enthusiasm? 3. Would you prefer to work on a project from the beginning, or in a state where it has already been completed and has placeholders for everything? 4. What kind of salary would it take for you to work full time with a team? (Assuming you would be responsible for a single role) Same thing with a tileset artist, really. How long would it take you to do all the tilsets for a game, etc. Edited by Kyrieru - 14 March 2013 at 7:56am |
