I posted my first pixel art piece today and got this message: "Revision required for Clam REASON: We're sorry to inform you that your submission does not meet our quality standards or the art needs revision for some miscellaneous reason. This is not to say you cannot resubmit the piece in the future after revising it. We encourage you to participate in our forums which include a Work in Progress (WIP) category. This is a great opportunity to gain knowledge and feedback for your pixel pieces before submitting them for approval on the main site." So I came here looking for some creative critism. Thanks in advance. Edited by ProtoAstron - 17 April 2013 at 4:12pm |

If the clam is that small, you should probably add something more to your artwork and apply some more pixeling work that can be recognized and appreciated, since the current piece probably doesn't match PJ's quality standards.
Regarding the second piece, it's hard to see a pixel level control on it. Start with relatively small pieces and take your time to work on them (while reading the tutorials). The second image is actually big if you are starting pixeling. |

on the clam, the interior black lines are taking up valuable space. I would get rid of them and use shading to differentiate surfaces instead. And yes, please post it at 1x without the background so we can do edits of we want to. Also use some reference images to help you out. Here I found some for you:

Start smaller to learn pixel techniques. Applying pixel technique on large images is a daunting task even for experienced pixellers. |

Sorry I didnt realise that was the correct format. I spent some of today redesigning the clam, and I am much more pleased with the result even though it can still use some work mainly with the shading and shape. Thanks for the feedback, I'm going to read some tutorials now. Cya |
