Hi, I'm new on the forums (been visiting the site of a long time). :)
I would like some opinions on this new character I have been working on for some weeks. I kinda took references from Castlevania/Dishonored/Van Helsing for designing the character. I did my best to make the running sprite(it was very difficult haha). Hope it does not look like a retard. xD Idle I:
Idle II:
Running:
Jumping:
Would like some tips on how to improve it, etc. As I said, I'm still working on him, most especifically on the movements, so I can draw the rest of the overcoat when its done. :D Edited by Snake_Plissken - 19 April 2013 at 9:05am |

Welcome to pixeljoint, Snake!
Alright, so it kind of looks like his arms are too high up during his fall animation. It would be tough to land and keep your balance. Also, his left arm is either severly broken or he is flexing, and that just looks odd. Try holding your arms like that, and you will see that it is kind of awkward. As for the jump animation (first part), it feels like his left leg's angle is too acute. And also his belt is facing a little too much to the right during those frames, and doesn't really match the angle of the pants. His right boot is always facing the same angle (towards us) during the entire jump animation. Kinda feels odd. As for the running, its ok. At that speed, though, the pony tail would not really be floating in the wind. It feels like he is going too slow. speaking of which, the running animation isn't that dynamic. It is a little boring. Here is a link to a good run animation: http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/13250.htm And a few of the very good animators at this site: http://www.pixeljoint.com/p/2071.htm http://www.pixeljoint.com/p/9784.htm http://www.pixeljoint.com/p/27838.htm http://www.pixeljoint.com/p/1400.htm Keep pixeling and practicing, my friend! Try to take part in our weekly challenges. They start on Mondays, and can be quite fun. Edited by crozier - 21 April 2013 at 8:04pm |
