Hey,
I'm going to be completely honest with all of you, I'm an inexperienced new game developer looking to create a Dungeon Crawler RPG, and have doing so for about a month or two now. The seemingly uncross-able ditch lying ahead of me is sprite art. I am, at my best of days, terrible at sprite art. Not because I don't try, I just don't have the ability I guess. Anyways, that's where you come in, I've seen some really experienced sprite artists roaming around these parts, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that atleast one of you brilliant artists will take interest in this project, but before we get into the mess of production, let me tell you a bit about the project.

The Project:
I've been putting along quite well for about a month of two, using "RPG Maker VX Ace" as a base engine, and the game is starting to come together. I've got all the basics down, a good battle system that's easy to build upon, items, different ideas for dungeons and bosses, and I've got a couple of friends really interested in it, constantly feeding me their thoughts as avid gamers. The game will feature multiple game modes; Story, Survival, Multiplayer, etc. Which can all easily be implemented using the same base scripts, thanks to the engine. The game will take part, most of the time at least, in a dungeon. The problem with this is that after a while, the same dungeon design will get really boring, especially because I plan to have most of the game play based on replay value and core mechanics. I've designed a buch of sprites myself, and used some from the base sprites that come with the engine, as a whole, they are meh, at best.

About Me:
Well, my real name is Jordan Giustizia, I'm a proud Canadian, eh! I'm fifteen years old, and I hope my age won't cause you to take me less seriously, as I'm very dedicated to this project. I attend highschool, and basically develop the game in almost of the spare time that I have. I've wanted to develop video games since I was a kid, and stumbled upon RPG Maker recently, which is basically a key to a world of easy development without a ton of prior knowledge. I'm an avid gamer, and have been absolutely addicted to indie games, particularly Edmund McMillen's. And, yeah... I don't know what else to say, usually people put a link to a blog, or portfolio, but I don't have one of those yet as this is my first REAL project, so... Pretend like it's there and move on. Thanks :D

The Style:
Considering it's an indie game, always like to go for the traditional, old school type graphics, with the current engine I'm using, all graphics are usually imported as 32x .PNG's, or some other similar format (64x32, etc) The art must have a "Style". The current graphics I have are a jumbled mess of different styles and pallets, I'd like them to remain similar, cohesive and clean. Of course, you'll be designing a lot of similar designs, given the fact that most of the game will be played throughout dungeons, so multiple dungeon types that look similar in style yet distinct would be preferred. A large part of the story is planned to be played on the exterior of dungeons as well, in forests, towns, etc, so be ready. Their are tons of characters, weapons, items, animations, enemies, tiles, plus, plus, plus to design, so this is a big job, I'll be able to give you basic outlines of what I want, or you can just trail off and do as you wish based of how you think the game should feel, either way, it's a large project.

Requirements:
Because of my extreme lack of talent in the art department, I'm not really gonna expect everything you give me to be the Sistine Chapel, in fact, I won't expect any of it to be that way. As long as you stick to the style as stated above^ have the obvious ability to do sprite work, and do it well, I'm fine. I'd like to get the entire game completed, included story, survival, multiplayer support, and hopefully release the game within the next year or two, and I think it's a very possible goal. The basis for the game is complete, and all that's left is to add, update, rework, and play with what's already been done. That said, you must be very dedicated, and be able to complete art requests within a reasonable amount of time. Also, I'd prefer it if you where interested in playing or helping with the project yourself, as if you don't care about the project, your work towards it most likely won't be your best. That's about it, now time for payment.

Payment:
Well, like I said, I'm in highschool, I'm working on getting a job, but money doesn't come very easily. I will NEVER ask you to invest any money in the game yourself, if you'd like to by all means, but it will never be requested, I will most likely only be invested a small amount of money, for the program, possibly rights to music, and to possibly port the game to mobile devices, etc. The project is more of a hobby than a business, but I'm planning on making a top notch title that gamers in the community will enjoy. I expect to sell the game when completed, and am totally willing to split the profits 50/50 will you as the artist, and possibly 33/33/33 if anyone else who would like to be involved. I'd like this to be more of a partnership, than an "I own this, and I own this," type of deal. You will have as much say in what goes on as I do, and vice versa, we flip a coin if we can't agree :D Payment will be dealt with 50/50 after taxes, etc.

Conclusion:
Alright, thanks for taking interest in the project and your time to read through this novel of a post.
