Alright... Here goes. I've been attempting pixel art for about a year now, but no matter what I do I never see improvements in what I do. I try my best, but nothing ever turns out how I hope. I'm losing inspiration and I'm giving up on things just a few minutes after I try them because I just can't seem to get them started off right. I've read all the tutorials over and over but nothing seems to help.. If anyone has some words of wisdom for me I'd really really appreciate it because I'm losing faith in myself. In case you want to know, here are images I've done in the past, from oldest to more recent ones.

I apologize for those of these that are resized, I resized most of them before I even knew about this site.

Your work here shows some degree of skill and some like the red smiling critter, the fox and the guy wearing the red shirt are well pixelled.
The issue might be this statement " I try my best, but nothing ever turns out how I hope." If you are trying your best and you keep practicing, asking questions, experimenting, etc then you are on the right track. If nothing turns out as you hope then the problem might be more complex because you have to find if the issue there is excessive self-criticism, inability to gauge your current skill level as it regards to pixelart and work within that scope as you improve, 'comparing' yourself to others, or some other mental thing all of which are destructive, unhelpful and creative killers.

Practicing other forms of (graphic) art can really unlock situation, and give you skills that apply in several art forms/techniques.
For example, pencil and paper is probably the most efficient way to improve anatomy and outlines, because in very little time you can make a lot of tests.
On the computer, oekaki and "painting with photoshop" (speed-painting?) can be very fast ways to practice sketching, colors, composition.

@jalonso I think my problem is I try things too over my head for me to complete but I don't know where to start. I self-taught myself from the beginning and I had 4 months of practice before I had even found anything official on pixel art. Maybe it's because I do not have any foundation to build on. And for the things I usually want to do, I can see them in my head I just don't know how to put it on the screen and then as I fail I forget what I want the image to look like.

I thought so, its common, keep at it. Don't get ahead of yourself. Small canvas, complete idea before anything so you can keep yourself in check and focus on fundamentals as you build up skill and confidence.

Draw all the time even when you sleep.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to just do stuff on 50x50 canvases with 10 or less colors. Probably more on the less side.
