In these collabs the first few tiles tend to be reworked more than later tiles. |

@ashkin; I think the main problem with your tile is the clean looks amidst of all the butchery. You can disrupt everything in order to create a more natural look. I edited to show you what you can do, this is overdone but it should give an idea. Dithers, stray pixels, blood stains in differing sizes (rather than standard) volume for the flooring etc.
![]() You can add more stuff within the scene (character or dead body parts) and their reflections and shadows on the flooring as well. Edited by Gecimen - 02 October 2013 at 8:39am |

@ashkin- you could also do a checkerboard type floor pattern. Or place a little shine in it (light streaks running diagonally), perhaps. There's a lot of options. Or do something similar to Gecimen's edit (semi-random things to create texture and effects). Play around with the walls and table, because they are kind of lacking in artistic flare. Good luck.

Tile #10 WIP: Trying for a miniature of the Eye of Sauron, and perhaps a Ringwraith hovering in the upper left after that. Will update the left castle wall with detail once I see where aevis plans to take it. All help greatly appreciated!

Another update. Pixeling this felt so WRONG- I'm used to keeping things clean, and all these little dithers and things are so... non-clustery. But I think I learnt a little about textures. Also Gecimen I never would've thought of using that green to highlight the grey, that is excellent

This looks great!
Note: Sometimes the most important aspect of the collab is to practice the same piece with others. But again, of course, create your tile as it pleases you, first and foremost. |

Ah, yeah, I get'cha. Yeah, that's why I like collabs. You get feedback, and you're forced to improve your own standard to at least come close to the people around you. Pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone is the only way to improve, and I don't think I've improved in a while- but this, combined with some other work I've been doing, has put me on the brink of something new, I think. Yay collaborations!

@Erstus, I think it looks quite beautiful in terms of color use actually. On a side note, it would be awesome if you updated the top corner soon-ish, so people can continue from thereon. No rush though.

Here's a done-ish version. I'll come back and edit the top corner depending on the surrounding tiles, and maybe add something else to the brick wall if I feel like it, or if there's any feedback.

That's looking real nice Night.
K, Reo, looking good so far. You do your thing, and I'll follow suit in my top right corner. Not sure what I am gonna do with that floating bone fragment, though ;) What I have, so far. Still have to finish the brick wall, the riverside, and the top right part. The dark mage's skeletal army!
aaaand I sooo want to do number 48, too. Shame I we can't to neighboring tiles ;) Edited by crozier - 04 October 2013 at 11:07am |

If you want to fill you top left side then its cool I'll adjust to it. Those round rocks are just there because the bottom tile has them but I will edit that whole area, k. |

To be continued... Upload that first image to imgur.com or somewhere. It also looks like you saved as .gif in MS Paint because your colours are all messed up/everything has random noise. Take a look at the Resources subforum to see other free programs you could use. |

WIP update:
I'm having problems with the background, trying for a cliff edge but I got stuck at this point. Also trying to use the lighter side of the palette so the brick wall doesn't merge with the cliff/background, but I can't get it to work at the moment. I would have gone with the darker colors but I feel the tile would be too flat. And I still need to incorporate the dragon and the eye once the background is finished; ![]() Edited by Acherhar - 07 October 2013 at 5:14pm |

@Acherhar hmm, perhaps if you used darker colors for the cliff-side (the part that's transparent now), and lightened up the top faces of the brick wall so there's a bit more contrast there. (like how jalonso's wall on the right side is much lighter).

Gecimen: yes.. just that one stray pixel on the skull on the ground and maybe like 2 others less noticeable.
Nevercreature: Glad you like it neighbor! :) Erstus: Great update, classy tile. Archerhar: I think Aeveis left good advice about making the walls stick out on a dark backing. Although I kind of like the light backing.. idk (pointless comment) |
