Have they improved? What can I do to make em even better?

This is only the second thread I've posted to and I'm somewhat new to pixel art but I'll give my 2 cents.

Obviously the shadow is a big improvement (I always forget those) but it looks like the bush is receiving a different light source. I may be wrong (most likely am) but shouldn't the shadow appear beneath the bush as it does on the two trees? I understand that the bush logically wouldn't really be high enough off the ground to see the shadow but still it looks odd with the other two next to it.

I like the way the individual leaves look in the "Old" picture but I like the shape of the tree/bush in the "New". The leaves just give off more depth with that dark green shadow bellow them and seem to pop more. However, if your looking for a more flat style then you nailed it.

The bark on the "new" tree looks much better as does the actual trunk it's self.

Without knowing what these images are to be used for I would say overall YES the "New" pictures are better.

Yeah, i'm kind of going for more of a flat, cartoony style. That said, I can try the old style of leaves to see how it looks.
As for the shadows, the trees are actually at the wrong angle. The bush has it at the angle everything else is at, I admittedly just got lazy when it came to the shadows.

The shadow on the bush is incorrect, it should be on the other side of the bush due to where the light is hitting it.

I tried doing the old style of leaves on the trees. It just wasn't working, so I dropped it. Is the lighting direction on the bush better?

Is this for an ongoing project?
Is there a reason everything is outlined in a single color used nowhere else?
Imo, none of the shadows are where they should be :/

The Outline should be Getting darker as the Light source is from the right top corner.

by the art itself nothing changes, you just changed how the tree looked. your art skills are great!

Is this frowned upon in the pixel art community, I'm curious. Newbie here.

It is for an ongoing project i've been working on for quite a while. An RPG.

I wasn't going for Selective Outlining. It's sort of a stylistic thing. Going for a more flat-ish cartoony look. Characters and interactive objects have a black outline to make them stand out, environments have a coloured outline.
Does it look bad? Or are you just wondering?

The drop shadows are just terrible and need a re-do. I just never got rid of em for the re-posting.

Outlines are always an artistic choice and this is not wrong at all.
I simply wondered because as standalone items its a wasted color.
