![]() Topic: Orcs walking around - Help with a character spritePosted: 11 May 2014 at 10:35pm |

I'm looking in to making some enemy sprites for Hammerwatch. So far I have
and I'm working on filling in all 8 directions plus the walking and stabbing animations. Does anyone have any good advice for workflow on drawing a sprite from multiple angles? Ways to keep it consistent and still work at a reasonable speed? Also any overall suggestions for how to improve my pixeling, still very new to all this. Heres the walking and stabbing
and a piece of art from Hammerwatch itself (not mine) as a reference for the sort of style I'm trying to blend with. ![]() Edited by Kashlavor - 11 May 2014 at 10:51pm |

I think it looks pretty good. I'm not a fan of the stabbing animation, because it's too... dull. Working with such tiny characters, I think it's better to exaggerate the movements.
Whenever I stab people, I like to throw my whole body into motion, using my hips and using my opposite arm to create a countermovement. Maybe even move my legs a bit. |
