Hi, I'm new to Pixel Art (2nd object) and I'm not really sure how to do this while still making it look good.

I'm trying to make this statue stand look old and chipped/abused. I've mainly got the edges roughed out but how would I get the inner sides to look like they have pitting/indents?

I'm not good at shading. :P

Maybe some texture will be useful here (scratches, cracks and maybe moss or vines).
Also I think form readability will be better with proper lighting. I mean paint different sides of that statue with different tones of gray (or use dithering if colours are very limited).
Here's my example.

P.S. Also you can add cast shadow. I think they work really well when you want to make things look more 3D.

You can make a topic in the WIP section and post your work there. Other members will help you with advices and guide you through process.
