Could use a little feedback on if this wheel roll is working or not. I'm not very experienced animating wheels so any advice on the subject could be extremely helpful.

Obviously the rear wheel isn't animated yet. I'm asking for help on the front wheel first. Thanks!

Hi,
Yes, the wheel looks like rolling, but it is a bit unrealistic. It looks like the highlight is moving around, yet the highlight should of course stay in the same spot... It can be dark parts of the wheel (texture) that actually moves..

Also, it doesn't really have to make a full circle to appear to be rolling. I made an edit where the wheel has only 2 basic frames...

And eventually, don't forget to animate the whole motorbike for extra speed ;)

Hapiel, you are right about the highlight, it doesn't make much sense for it to be moving with the wheel. Thanks for your edits, they will prove useful and helpful! I have some work to do on this, will be posting an update soon with some progress.

Dammit my post got deleted... I changed the highlights on the wheels. I tried giving it a "rumbly" feel to it without overdoing the amount of parts moving. I'm wondering if it needs a little bounce to it, but I had in mind that it was a racing bike instead of a street bike. Thoughts?

Right now what you have seems more like screenflicker than actual movement. Notice that Hapiels edit mostly has vertical movement, bouncing up and down, as if the suspension is compensating for bumps in the road.

I do like the wheelspin and the highlights on the windshield but the rest isn't really working.

Much better than the first :). I like your take on this!

If this is for a game, keep in mind that animations in motion look very very different! If this thing moves quickly over a screen you will probably hardly notice the bounce at all if it is horizontal and this subtle. Inner wheel animation is big enough to be noticed.

Gosh you're right! It is for a game. Definitely will need more vertical bounce since it will be moving horizontally. Thanks for reminding me of that!

Okay so I gave it some bounce. How does it look? Working now?

looks like it's moving very slowly, but yeah with an animated background this should be fine.

Thanks for all the suggestions! It will be moving faster in game, so the speed of that animation is not a problem.

it doesn't need bounce if the ground is flat.

Yep, the bounce looks very weird... Perhaps it needs no bounce after all ;). Or only on the part that is connected to the steering wheel, but not the whole chassis.

Haha dammit xD... First more bounce, then no bounce. I'll figure out what I'll do with it, but I guess I'll use my own intuition.

Okay so I added the rider in, and I'm wondering if it looks right with him sitting with a slight bounce.

I like the bounce in the player a lot. Even if the road is perfectly flat it makes him look like there's a powerful engine rumbling underneath him. Really cool artwork by the way.

Yeah, the bounce looks great now that you've added the rider to the pic. Love the overall design and the color choices. Keep up the good work!
