There's a host of good artists on here and in my never ending quest for neat stuff to look at and good reference I'd like to follow some people on here. ie. I'd like to track when someone I like posts new work etc.
I see a friend/buddy system in forum and the work posting area, but that seems a bit much considering I really don't know most people here. Any particular way I could keep track of certain people? I find myself rediscovering art work and people I didn't want to lose track of in the first place. ![]() Or should I just be bookmarking each person I come across in a browser folder? or otherwise making my own system beyond the bounds of PJ? Thanks! |

The buddy system, despite its name, seems to be used primarily as a way to keep track of people. Unfortunately, there's no activity/submission feed, so even having someone buddied just makes it easy to find their art, it doesn't tell you when they've updated or aggregate their art in any way that I've found.

It's perfectly ok to use your PJ-gallery buddy list as a register of artists you'd like to keep track of. The "Buddy" can make it seem a bit personal...but don't worry; since it doesn't have any real functionality to it(?) why not put it to some good use?
I haven't even thought about the forum Buddy-function...is it different from the gallery? |

DB, you are my first buddy on the forum system! It seems it has the added functionality of being able to check if your buddy is online or not.
DB, did I get added to your list automatically too? That is what the gallery system does at least.. |

Nope, my buddy list in the forum is empty. So that seems different from the gallery.

I find the buddy system does not work for me to keep track of people because some buddy me and throw my system off.
I use the fav system instead (faves also don't count for much as many think. Only the rate squares under art mean anything in the gallery). I only have one fav per person as a direct link to the gallery of those I admire and some actual 'buddies'. @DB...I buddied you on the forum so you won't feel unloved :p Edited by jalonso - 14 February 2015 at 5:32pm |

@Jal: As we discovered; the forum buddy-lists are one way only...
