I am making something and I need to make a window that you can see through.
Would take too long to do it pixel by pixel so is there any simple program I could use to do this? If someone know how to do it it would be appreciated.... ![]() Thanks. Edited by Aramax |

I tried Photoshop C2 something... its too complex for me. I need a step by step tutoril. When I made the second layer and moved the window over the tree only the box moved and the window stayed there... I only use paint shop and Unfreez to do my animation normally... When im done I save with irfanview. I dont go into complex program like those. Frankly it would be way more simple if someone would do it for me... but I never learn anything that way... Its up to you. |

If you've got photoshop, or paint shop pro, you could just lighten and lower the saturation of the tree image and pixel the window over it. That would take less than a few minutes. (btw, i dont know whether the tree is in the right perspective for the window, it might not look right. well, try it and see) Edited by Larwick |

Good choices! I happen to use those exact same proggies. If you do it in MS Paint, you can just dither, though that might not give you the look you want. |

Its CS2 (Stands for Creative Suit 2) Photoshop is too complex for the needs of a pixel artist along with PSP 8 or above (7 works really well) All the current versions of PSP should come with animation shop which works great for animations. Open the tree image click to add a new layer (on the layer pallet) select that layer paste the window image there move it to the correct location (where you want it) then move the slider to the right that will controll the transparency then creat a new layer above that and block the rest with whatever you want. |

If you want your image to have true pixel-style feel forget about composition truecolor gfx apps like Photoshop or Photopaint other are recommending.
You would only end up with very very very cheep effects. You CAN make the semi-transparent window effect pixel by pixel. Quite easily too. There is no need to exactly copy what is reflected, refracted and seen-thru. You have to create simple aproximated (stylized) illusion to give viewer an idea. See exellent example taken from HarryPotter game made by Henk Nieborg (c). ![]() There are even 2 different 'techniques' used. One is true aproximation of highlights on glass mixed with dark idea of seen-thru interior. - See greenhouse roof. Other is seen on the side wall - simple 'streaks' of white making effect of glass over underlying image of whatevers behind the translucent glass wall. Hope this gives sense. Im writing it after 12hrs straight commercial pixelling. Good luck. |
