Hi guys, as you can see the number of my posts, you know that I'm very new here. I was introduced to this board by one of my member. I saw his portfolio and fell for pixelart. Now, im anxious to learn this art! My suggestion is, why not make a little tutorial of a complete pixelart image? This one may contain how everything is started (eg: the layout, the outline, how to choose the colors, etc) along with some images or something? Im very new at this superb art and wish to learn about it. I guess if someone designs this simple tutorial, it can be very useful for first-timers (like me) In fact, it can be an asset for this forum to have something which other boards dont have yet. I bet everyone will love it. Who would love to do the honour? If only I had the knowledge, I would have made one :D How about a tutorial of making this simple smiley -->

There are various tutorials that can show you the basics:
1. Tsugumo's Pixel Art Tutorial
2. Spriteart.com Click the 'Tutorials' link on the main page.
There are numerous others, I'm just too lazy to find them now. I hope these are what you're looking for.

I say open your preffered program and start pushing pixels. When you encounter a particular issue, then find tutorials and help for that specific item, learn something and continue your piece. The tutorial you seek is someones view of how to create your art their way. This never works therfore it does'nt exist exist.
If you wish to create this >  , blow it up and copy it and learn from it. (A tutorial for this would for me be useless because I go with the least amount of colors possible, you may like adding more) If you wish to create something else, draw it or find a reference pic and get to it. Then post it in the wip section and get help as you learn and develop your own style.

The best way to getting good at it is by knowing everything about how to make it good.

You should study great works, but also understand how you would go about making it. And...take advantage of the WIP section.

Thanks for your feedback guys! It's a helpful forum and I'll learn a lot here. I started off with the help section in the Graphics Gale and got familiar with the tools. Since I usually use photoshop for designing, it was not really that difficult to get use to the tools. What I wonder about your works is how do you shade them. I have an idea  to develop and I find it hard to shade it. For example like this one:

How did they shade the inner region. That's what the whole challenge is, as I see it..
