Hi, I've submitted one of my gallery pieces a number of times and it keeps getting rejected. I just wanted to know why it isn't being accepted.

here is the piece#http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/105690.htm

It's weird that you weren't notified of the issues. I'm not a mod, but I suspect these are the issues:
1. You used a reference but didn't credit it. Credit is required by rule 5. Your ref is available in many places online, so just link one of those, e.g. "Reference image: (url)."
2. The image follows the ref so closely, contains so many redundant colours, and has such dramatic differences in rendering style between different parts of the image that it gives the impression that you downsampled the original image and then redrew some parts of the image but not others. If you downsampled the image and then modified it, that's fine, but you should mention that that's what you did.

By not saying anything, you're implying that you did 100% of the work from scratch, which is clearly not the case, since you used a ref image.

Also, the expected procedure is to update the rejected submission, not to submit it as a fresh piece. If you're not seeing the Edit button on rejected pieces, you can still access the Edit page by going to your piece's page:
http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/#####.htm
Grab the numbers near the end, and put them into this URL:
http://pixeljoint.com/pixels/submit_icons.asp?id=#####
That page will be the Edit page for your piece.

Great, yeah It just said it was rejected for misc reasons no mention of these points.

A reference image was used but no down-scaling all pixels placed by hand no tracing. It seems to have been added now for some reason.

Thanks

I added your pixel yesterday.
I have been really busy so I am unaware if your art had an issue, pending question or whatever when I added it.
I know you pixel honestly and you are improving with every pixel you make. You keep that up.

Generally speaking you still pixel a bit sloppy or even over pixel.
As you work on new pixels try to place the least amount of pixels and colors as possible so that you form shapes and areas and not attempt to overdo things in an attempt to detail the way your mind's eye sees things.
In pixelart it is almost always better to just place enough pixels to define and let the viewer fill in the details which they always will.
Because the viewer will 'add' is the main reason your work seems overdone.
Its kinda weird but pixelart does that.
See pixels in the gallery you admire and study how you 'add' but when you zoom in its not there.

This is why I have a pet peeve about adding pre zoomed pixels in the gallery :p

If you have no fave artist but want to see how the least possible is added but is rich in details just check out any 'human' in Jinn's gallery, particularly his nudes...

...so yeah, I added you work but its entirely possible that another Mod or PJer had an issue that may need revisiting :)

His use of 'add' is a bit strange, but AFAICS he means implying details rather than actually drawing them in.

When I look at your gallery I can't see any pre-zoomed pieces, so I guess that was just a tangent about other things that detract from the viewer's ability to use their imagination.
absolutely.

aah ok, thanks neota, I was confused because the piece is 1x1 scale.

In art we usually what you refer to as 'add' is called projection. But I get what you mean now. The over painting in this piece is intentional, though I appreciate your comments :)

And I'm not sure there are any redundant colours, if you mean colours in the pallet but not used in the image then there are none to my knowledge.

By redundant colours, I meant colours that are used in the image, but are very similar and could easily be merged together with minimal or no ill effect on the artwork. Having a lot of redundant colours is usually a sign that the artist is trying to stay accurate to the source image, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it often leads to a pixel art piece that looks noisy and lacks colour unity.
