Hi guys, I have a friend at work sitting next to me, and we regularly have mini competition in art/programming/marathon etc.

Both of us are learning pixel arts and did some competitions before (victor decided by community interaction - normally on twitter). We really like this week's challenge but can't find a way to "compare" our would-be pieces because we can't see any kind of scoring here on PJ.

Am I missing something? Is there any way we can see rating of any kind on PJ?

There is no way to see the rating, but you can browse the Weekly Showcase until you find both pieces and see which you find sooner. The Weekly Showcase is ordered by total rating and includes submissions from the past week.
You could also use favourites as an additional metric.

If you both enter the challenge, you'd also have the votes in that to help. If either of you places in the top 3, then it'll be clear who the winner is. If neither of you place, then perhaps you could ask the mods about who got more votes. They don't normally release that information, but perhaps they'll oblige if both of you consent.

This doesn't help with artist comparisons; but if you want to see an artist's gallery in order of rating: click the number of "pixels" in the top-right [member rank] box.

You can post both artworks to the forums, and people can vote directly, then you count votes and decide the winner. Of course one can create a fake account just for voting purposes, but you can detect it by post count and empty gallery.

Also, I don't really like current OGA's rating system, because each artwork can be judged in a several categories, like concept, style, composition, palette, painting and pixel level quality.

That is a good idea, though are you sure the mod will help with that? We joined the challenge anyway since it's quite fun.

Do you mean as for my case it would be this link? The ordering seem quite questionable to me, I myself don't think my first piece is that good comparing to others T_T

P/S: was PJ down in the last 2 days? I couldn't access the site since posting #1.

I'm not sure that they'll help, but that doesn't mean you can't ask.

The ratings are cumulative, not average. So, older pieces often have higher ratings since they've had more time to get ratings from more people. Plus there's luck involved in simply getting the piece seen by the users who actually vote. Another spanner in the works is that different users have different rating habits and different max ratings they can give.
