![]() Topic: [PAID] Looking for Artist to make In-Game CutscenePosted: 20 May 2018 at 3:02pm |
|
Hello!
My name is Adam and I am a pixel artist/programmer. Some of my pixel art can be seen here, and my last game here. I am working on a game which is heavily inspired by Japanese aesthetics, and I'm looking for an artist who can create the art for the game's opening cut-scene. The cut-scene will be a series of still images set to an old legend, much like the introductions to many of the Zelda games. Since the game is inspired by Japanese aesthetics, I'm looking for a lo-bit/gameboy-esqe, black and white, sumi-e inspired look for the cut-scenes. If you're not familiar with the look, here are some examples:
The ideal candidate is someone who has more of an illustrative background, and an eye for aesthetics and design. They must be someone who is very creative, and is willing to pitch their artistic solutions and to fight for them. I want these pieces to show the creativity of the artist. I am one that likes to provide guidance and feedback, not to demand and micromanage. If you are selected, I will write up a contract and we'll engage in a short, trial basis to see if we get along just fine. ;D This is a paid gig and I'd prefer to pay on a per piece basis, but the needs of every artist is different and we can discuss your specific terms. I believe myself to be pretty reasonable, but hey, that's just me. I can't wait to hear from ya! And I hope that we can make something dope! Update: I just wanted to let any future applicants know that this position is filled! Thanks to everyone who applied! I'll be sure to reach out with more job opportunities in the future! |

Thanks for all the emails, everybody!
I've gotten a few asking whether or not I'm still looking for an artist and I still am! So feel free to keep sending emails my way! Even if I end up picking someone, I'll be looking for pixel artists with more general skills in the future for other aspects of the project. So don't feel like your application will be thrown by the wayside! Thanks everyone! |

I've sent you an email.
But I'm actually quite interested in finding out more about this specific portion of what you are looking for. It looks super fun and interesting. What is your canvas size for these screens? Are you looking for a white canvas with black inking approach like this? If so are you hoping to keep the palette restricted to just two colors or are you able to use a variety of grays to explore lighter/deeper strokes of the brush? Other colors allowed or are you sticking to black/white tones. The birds are red for example. |

The canvas size for these screens is roughly 250 x 135 pixels.
I am looking for a white canvas background with limited tones, using different shades to suggest the thickness of the ink. However, I'm hoping that the sumi-e is more of a starting point of inspiration, and I'm hoping artists can add their own twist. If that makes sense. |
