Well that's dumb.  You rate the incredibly limited RPG Maker higher than the superb Game Maker which is capable of making any kind of 2D game and even some not too shabby 3D games (like Hover Tank by a friend of mine).  Idiotic...

Sorry..overreacted a lil...was tired.

I used RPG Maker for a short while years back and got so sick of its extreme limitations that meant nearly every game made in it was obviously an RPG Maker created game and to be honest I hate RPGs...  I only used it for something so I could see my sprites in action.  It eventually just drove me insane and forced me to find another program...

The Quest Maker is a program made by a friend of mine... ironically, the program is also made with a game-making program.

AGS pwns.

But I respect traditional programming like C+ etc even I don't know programming by myself... Programmed stuff just sounds cooler. Game makers are lame

And shark, you may get trouble with the law because of that serial thingy suggestion...

I had TGF on a magazine cover a long time ago.  It was alright but highly limited.  It's succesor Mutlimedia Fusion is much better but more expensive and has weird glitches on my PC.

Been using Game Maker for about 4 years now and have been amazed at the improvements its been making.   The name suggests its a simple creation tool using drag n drop icons which is just for the beginners.  The real goodness comes when you start learning the GML coding and start making efficient professional games. Got some friends who use it even though they usually program in C++ for work cos it's a great program to make games quickly in if ya like, but also has a ton of power to expand those concepts too.  Also the use of additional DLL files can add much to it as well.  My buddies in the group Eo use it and have won the last 2 major Retro Remakes contests too.

I have been a GM user since it first came out. I have mastered about every aspect of it's flexable language and I can sa that it has helped me express my ideas very very well. It is a great intorductory tool to regular programming. The free version is about as good as you'll get and it s royalty free. Meaning you can sell games. For only 20 usd you can regester and then it is truely the best game making tool out there.
