I'm a beginning pixel artist, and I'm curious - is there one universally agreed name for large continuous images constructed from multiple terrain tiles? For example, like the buried skeletons in this picture: http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/61422.htm - they're clearly too large to fit into one terrain tile if this was a real game. And I recall many games use that technique to create illusion of a realistic non-tiled terrain. I tried looking up some pixel art glossaries, and couldn't find anything about that.

You seem to be describing a supertile. Depending on the writer or game engine's preference, it may also be called a "chunk" or "metatile". For instance, this article describes it using the latter term.
