Hello, I got a message about these piece https://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/136215.htm
About how it need be 100% original work (I use material reference). This is the original piece, from @thiago.lehmann https://www.instagram.com/p/CHx2e8ogKP6/ Also I talked with the original creator and he is okay with my sprite. So, I wanna know if this is considered or not as reference material? I mean is like, when X artist make a pixel art version of 3D game like League of Legends is considered reference material or not? Or when X artist make pixel version of Van Gogh piece is considered reference material or not? |

Hi Maye, thanks for reaching out :) In this case, it appears to me that your pixel version is a near perfect copy of the original. If an artist makes a near perfect pixel copy of a Van Gogh piece this would also likely not be accepted in the gallery. Also, the piece stood out a lot as it has large quality and style difference from your other sprites. When working from images like this I would encourage you to find your own style and approach to make them unique and your own. Or you can do them purely as study pieces, but then they are unsuitable for the gallery. The 100% original rule also applies to your other work, could you please remove the Tibia artwork from the other sprites you posted? Thank you!
