We are a small indie studio (3 people) that is working on a retro-inspired RPG in the style of Wizardry 7 and Eye of the beholder.
The game has an interesting back story, because it was started by me and my best friend over 30 years ago, received interest from Sir-Tech (publishers of Wizardry) and couple of other publishers, but was never finished because, well, we were both young and “stupid” and then “life” got in the way.
And now, we think that the time has come to finish what we started back then in the 90s.

We have lots of material, lore, concept art even from back then and we need a pixel artist to turn that material into beautiful art that will be used in the game.

What we need:
Pixel artist that is comfortable drawing fantasy pixel art (portraits, monsters, environment…) in style of old “dungeon crawlers” (as mentioned - Wizardry 7 and EOB).
Selected artist should preferably love the medieval fantasy RPGs and retro style pixelated graphics.

What we offer:
OK, so this is paying gig. We are not looking for freebies, but - and I must emphasise this - We are currently completely self funded and cannot afford AAA prices or any high hourly rates.
Though the basic pay will not be AAA, there is a lot of material to draw and in the longer run, this can be a good supplemental income for any pixel artist. Also, because we cannot pay AAA prices, we will be a little less strict with deadlines.

We are looking to either pay fixed price for “graphics packs” (so we send the list of items needed, you give us the price that is fixed for the whole pack).
Or, if you are from environment where the wage expectations are not “sky high”, let us know and in this case, we would be maybe interested to hire you for a few months on “full time”.

Attach 1 sample pixel art portrait (preferably in RPG style - but not a requirement) and 1 pixel art monster (again preferably RPG fantasy style).

Include the approximate price you would charge for 20 character portraits in 48x48 resolution and 2 monsters with 5 frames each (2 frames idle, 2 frames attack, 1 frame hit) in up to (not fixed) 130x90 resolution. As written - this is approximate as we know you cannot determine detailed price without knowing exactly what we need.
Also, let us know how long it would approximately take you to deliver graphics pack in this style.

If you are interested in full time gig (for at least couple of months but can also be longer if we really “click”) - let us know the price you would charge monthly.

Also, include the info if you are able to invoice us as a business or sole proprietor.
