Hi all,
We are looking for another artist to join our team and help with monsters and characters. We are a team of 5 (currently) and are developing an old-school RPG inspired by Wizardry 7, Eye of the Beholder and Might and Magic. And our current artist just cannot keep up with the workload, so we need a bit of help. The game we are developing is Mystic Land: The Search for Maphaldo. You can find the steam page here : Mystic Land on Steam So, we need an artist that can match the style of our current artist (check the Steam page and/or Twitter links below), do the "crude" old style retro animation (like in Wizardry 7) and is willing to commit to long term cooperation. What we offer Keep in mind that we are currently self funded so the budget is set to "what we can afford". We never over promise and always pay what we agree to. So, the "normal monster" is up to about 240x200 pixels and usually comes with 5 frames of animation (2 frames idle, 2 frames attack and 1 frame "hit") Boss monster is usually around 300x260 and also comes with 5-6 frames of animation. NPCs / characters are same as normal monsters but usually only a 2 frame idle animation. We ofer fix payment of 75€ per normal monster, 40€ for NPC and 100€ for boss monster. We also offer a contract that will pay bonus if the game does well! We do know this is a bit less than usual one time commission for this kind of a job, but as I mentioned, this is long term deal over quite a few months (and you will draw a couple of characters/monsters each month) so it can add up to a nice additional income for a capable artist. What we expect from the right candidate We expect you to be able to draw these monsters and characters from detailed descriptions and (sometimes not always) from concept art. We expect you to be able to draw somewhere from 3 to 6 (depends on the stage of development) such monsters/characters each month and to commit to long term cooperation (at least few months). Game is scheduled for release in the end of 2024, so there is still lots of work to be done. Also, if you apply for this job, you will be expected to draw 1 test image of one monster (no animation, just image), so we can see if you can match the quality and style of our current artist. You two will both draw monsters/characters in the game, so it's 100% important for styles and quality to match! If you are selected, the test image will be used in game and paid. If not, then it won't be paid for, but we will not use it as well - you can keep it for your portfolio.
