MS Paint is the best. Some use Graphics Gale, but it's too complex IMHO. I say stick with Paint, it works as well as the rest.

paint shop pro 9 here. It really works like a charm.
But i really dont suggest paint. some people use it and love it, but its plain crap compared to other free programs around. and even programs that are expensive are not on the internet right :O anyway lets jus say that some programs are much much more effective than paint. |

I would use Photoshop, I have it, but it takes too long to load and isn't meant for pixel pushing. I would assume the same is true for GG.

I use PSP because my freeware of GG doesn't save as gif so it's a
hassle to convert...but I like GG because it's such a small program
that opens up in a few seconds.
And the eyedropper is right click. |

Lol.. I use good ol' paint and animationshop 3, i tried graphics gale once but it was too confusing for my wee brain. I'd quite like to be able to use it though, the whole layer aspect is great. The only thing i have wrong with paint is that you cant edit the pallette as easily, and you cant zoom very much (if you've got a good screen the pixels are still lamely sized at 8x zoom) |

i like paint because i dont waste time setting tools options and layers and all that fancy stuff. I just click on the button that looks like a pencil, choose a color and get to it! yea.. I'm a simple kinda girl
I tried psp, but it has so many tools there that it's impossible for me to get done quickly. And I don't like the fill tool there..

i like adobe for layers, if you make an error just delete the layer. it
also allows me to experiement and then show and hide layers to see wat looks best. |

I find that mac OS 9 and below (I dunno about X) lacks a copy/paste function for files. Is there a way to do that?

The portable version of the GIMP takes forever on USB 1.0 until you dump most of the plugins folder. Mainly the same reason I still use PSP7 for general image work. Loads near instantly on my 750mhz 320MB RAM PC. PSP8 and above usually take about 20 seconds, and the last version of Photoshop I had took about 1 minute to load up and then wouldn't work well with any music playing programs without causing them to stutter, and I sure as hell needs me my music when doin' pretty much anything on the computer. Keeps me sane... |

Are there any free programs like Photoshop? I need something like that
(but free) to do some layers on a project I am working on.

Does anyone know about a decent pixel pusher for PocketPC platforms?
I made one a year ago or so which I simply called PocketPaint because there was no decent one around at that time (or I was just too stupid to google), but it's a bit tedious to work with it.. Dunno if there are any good programs around now Otherwise I might improve mine if someone forces me to do so D: |
