Yup, pixel art just uses the pencil tool. You will need a transparent background converter though. Check out the resources and support forum for lots of them.

not really the right section for a question, man, and most people do use MS paint you didn't really need to start a topic for this question. the is a topic on the Resources And Support section called "Software for pixel art" that has your answer in full. people who are new to the forum should always investigate these things first before they post.
