You always seem to think of the outline as not a bone and muscle structure packed into skin, but as what appears to be ballons wrapped around some sticks and fused together. A human body is obviously not a balloon animal. Think of where muscles would actually be and put lines according to where you at least think bones would be. Also, you might want to start off by having you stick figure in correct proportions before making the outline. The stick figure's head is obviously too large already, and his legs stem from the bottom of his spine rather than the sides of his hips. That's something a lot of people take a while to realize, legs don't come from the lower side of anything, they're actually attached to your sides. Remember that one because it took me for ever to finally realize it a few years back.

I made a quick lineart around your original black stick figure, but paid more attention to how the muscles and bones would push against the skin.



In my version, let it be known that his head is too far to the viewer's right, his lifted arm is simply "wtf" and his lower legs are too short and generally "wtf" as well. Other than that, it's a fairly rough guide.
