I've got this idea for a game/community but I need some base tiles to
get started. If anyone has any free time and wouldn't mind drawing up
some road/street tiles that would be great.
I don't know if I should call it a game or a cummunity it's a lot like pixelDam but will run on the local machine using directX and cummunicate to my website. I've got some ideas: Users create an account and login. Start out with some money. Can buy lots with money and can also "spend money" by voting for other buildings. Once owned user can submit an image for there lot, will be reviewed before adding. Votes received for your building will turn into cash for you to buy more or spend elsewhere. Can buy neighborhoods with lots that they can sell or build freely. Owner of neighborhood collects cash for lot sales. Owner of neighborhood default mayor. Neighborhood lot owners will vote for mayors. Each lot will count as one vote. Mayor has default descretion to delete a lot or accept new ones. So the community is ever expanding and interactive. I really want make this game, would anyone be interested in something like this? |

I might be able to do the programming, if you're interested in using
ASP. I havent tried my hand at tilesets yet, so I dont know how
useful I would be there...

for.....just a suggestion. Well I have some road tiles I've made but they're of poor quality. I'm not much of a artist and I love the style displayed on this website. It can't hurt to ask. All I need is roads and grass. Maybe later on water, trees, etc for the looks. The users of the game will design there own buildings when they buy a lot from the neighborhood owners. Originally posted by Demon I might be able to do the programming, if you're interested in using ASP. I havent tried my hand at tilesets yet, so I dont know how useful I would be there... I'll probably write the web side of it in PHP(my host runs linux) but thanks for the offer. ![]() Hey thanks this will get me started. I'll build a sample app using these graphics and maybe some kind souls will lend me some of their talent later on. I do have most of the game outlined right now I just need to do it. I've made tiled base online games in directX before and should have no problem writing the server side code for it either. Just need some artwork. |

Originally posted by drr Wow, that looks awesome ![]() I'm a beginner at Isometric art, but I'd be happy to try and help... What kind of tiles do you need? Well to be honest I need everything. The road tiles are ok but could sure use some detail. The trees are just what I threw together for placeholders, the perspective doesn't stand up under close examination. And the "for sale" lots are just grass tiles with a 2d "for sale" box drawn on them. And the grass, another thing just thrown together. Here is the grass template. Typical isometric rules apply. It's a 48x48 bitmap file with magenta (rgb 255,0,255) as the transparent color. Whatever you can come up with would be great. Trees, grass, water, shorelines, etc. I don't need buildings right now because they'll be created by users when the game goes live. Thanks. |

There are two sizes: 48x48 and 96x96 (96x96 template) Anything you want would be cool. It'll have a home. And I've updated the screen shot. Also if you, or if anyone for that matter, are interested in beta testing my program let me know and I'll set you up an account. Edited by Jeromy |

Originally posted by Toy Pixel This is definetly something I'd be glad to work on, if you need any extra Isometrics being done, just ask me. I could use a couple more trees and some water with shorelines. I'm calling the game Plixel and I have started to work on the website. The game will be free (as in beer) to download or play. I certainly could use some beta testers. |

I've started the sailboat, but there's a problem, the size, I realised
how massive the for sale signs are compared to the people, so I don't
know how big to make the sailboat...

The website is moving along. You
may now create accounts and check out the layout of three
Neighborhoods. Just about every in the program itself is completed.
Once the website is finished I'll release the game. I could still use
volunteers for beta testers

Originally posted by drr ![]() There's the rowboat, too big? Too small? The boat is excellent but when I load it up in the game it looks too small. Also the rowboat idea was bad on my part. A larger sail boat would be much cooler. Sorry about that. I'd also like to take this time to thank you for helping me out. Seeing as I have almost zero creative bones in my body it is much appreciated!! |

The road tiles I think are nice. I think the trees could use a bit more work though as well as the for sale signs.
I'll gladly help, and for free. I'm pretty good with small isometric stuff. Here's an example: ![]() If you have faith that this will be completed and that you could get it all done, then I'd be willing to help, cause past projects that I have worked on with others always seemed to fail along the lines of coding and such. If you want, I'm also free to help with web-design. Edited by TakeOut |

drr> I've got the sailboat added(just like the people they randomly appear and are stationary)
Takeout > Nice house. I like the style of the trees and every thing drr has helped me out with. But I'd love to see some different versions if you have some free time. I could use some help on the web design as well. I've never been very artistic but I can write code pretty well. Also I think another good thing about this game is that the tileset can easily be changed. In the future I hope to offer several different user made tilesets in addition to the default version. All help would be appreciated. Any new tiles you can do would be great.
I'd really like some bridge tiles. If you look at this
screen shot
you can see the road over the water has no depth, it looks ok, but
would look awesome if it were raised a bit like a bridge.
Also people seem not to like the for sale signs if you can come up with something I could check it out. Thanks! |

like the cartoon-y trees drr made. I agree about the scale and would
love it if that style could be just scaled down.

![]() I scaled the trees and the sign down. The first row is a solitary tree, the second is the trees in perfect order, except they don't work when you put one above the other, side to side it's fine, and the last one is random, works ok... |

drr> thanks that's what I was looking for. So what I'll do is use
three different tree tiles(of the same tree but randomly placed) and
then load them at random to mix it up a bit.
On another note I thought I'd try and make an ISO house: ![]() |
