Pixel Joint Forum: 32x64 sprite -- little girl

I'm not quite happy with this, but I'm not sure why. Critiques would be appreciated, before I go and do umpteen animation cycles of her.

For context, this is the hero sprite for a cute little gardening game. She's supposed to be looking down at the garden she's working on.

	Aww, she's so cute. But she needs more... contrast! I like the lineart and color choice. And it doesn't really seem like she's looking down, more to the side.
	Every pixel counts, even the dead ones.

	Haha, this is really nice. The cute style is great, and i think the contrast is fine. I think the weakest parts may be the fringe and the legs at the moment. The fringe could possibly have a less blurred and dark outline? Not much i can say about the legs/feet, but there's just something about them... owel.

	heh! I like her! :) her smile seems a bit odd to me tho. I can't tell if she's smiling a big smile or it's just a little half C. I'd either make it one or the other. I think it's a :D smile, in that case the line below the nose should be a bit more darker, I think. I think the style of a bigger body is alright. That may make her look pregnant like skull mentioned but... maybe you could solve that by making a different style of dress? maybe one that has a sort of "top" and a line at the waist like this one? that might help. Awesome work so far. She's very cute. :D I think she should have a matching bow in her hair.

	Well, I decided not to go through with this game idea -- I like the concept, but I don't love it, and I don't think that would be enough to motivate me in the long haul. Of course, after reaching this decision, I went and puttered around with the sprite I no longer need: ...and I'm not even sure that I like it better. Ah well. FYI, this is the last edit I'm likely to do. Thanks for all the crits, anyway. :)

	Wow, the dress is much better now, and the ribbon is a great girlish touch. (erm... that's just me though). I think there's something about the size of the eyes, they look slightly Bride-of-Chucky-ish. Apart from that, a great sprite! ~ Eilidh
